I never use, never print, never scrap a photo that I haven't edited on Photoshop first.
Photos coming out from a digital camera have like a thin grey overlay on top of them, which you can get rid of with the levels and curves on your favorite photo editing program :)
I personnally mainly work with actions now.
Photoshop actions automate repetitive tasks—they’re easy to create, easy to use, and, best of all, quite often you don’t even have to create them yourself because someone else has done the work already.
Here are a couple of exemples I'd like to show you : the first photo is always the Before shot.

Now you understand why I ALWAYS edit my photos! :)
Styles, contrast, colors can be changed and adapted depending on your own tastes, the great thing about working with actions is that you can edit them while loading them.
Here's a list of my favorite actions, without even counting RadLab that I get to use a lot now :
MCP Photography
Totally Rad
Itty Bitty Actions
Maggie Holmes actions
Rustic Relics
Flora Bella Collection
Most of Photoshop actions work on Photoshop CS and above, not on Photoshop Elements. Ask the seller from which you want to purchase some actions in order to know.
Have a great day!
