For this simple tutorial, I created a patchwork "quilted" look for my greeting card. This technique is very simple but makes a very dramatic statement!
First, you need to trim a block of card stock for your card base. I sized my card to 5" x 7" so that I could get two rows of 2" squares across the front.
I then cut a slightly smaller block of kraft cardstock and adhered it to the plum colored card stock. Then, I punched out 6 circles of card two different pattern papers that were double sided and that complimented each other.
I traced out a square in the middle of each circle and then folded the edges along each line that I traced.
This created a 2" square that I then placed on the top of the kraft card stock.
fter placing all of my 2" squares down, I used my sewing machine to stitch down each row of blocks. This further emphasized the "quilted" handmade look.
I chose to finish off my card with a few buttons that I placed in the centers of each block. I could have easily finished the card off with a simple stamped sentiment as well. This simple technique could be used on cards or layouts!
